Hot and dense QCD matter search at GSI (Pre-talk 15:30)
Heavy ion collisions at low beam energies as they are performed at GSI probe the phase diagram of strongly-interacting matter at high net baryon densities and low temperatures. This regime of the phase diagram is particularly interesting since a first order phase transition between the hadron gas and quark-gluon plasma phase is expected. The conditions in these collisions are similar to the ones within neutron star mergers.
To connect final state measurements with the physics of interest in the hot and dense stage detailed dynamical models are required. In this talk, I will introduce the hadronic transport approach SMASH (Simulating Many Accelerated Strongly-interacting Hadrons) for this purpose. The most recent constraints on the equation of state of nuclear matter based on collective flow measurements will be shown. In the second part, the exploration of dense matter via dileptons as electromagnetic probes is covered. I will also give an outlook on the development of a dynamic hybrid approach to move to higher beam energies and investigate effects of the phase transition.
